Circa 1972 Roberto Clemente Single Signed Official National League Baseball - PSA/DNA LOA
Just months before the greatest Latin American baseball star in history was lost beneath the waves surrounding his home island, Roberto Clemente autographed this Official National League (Feeney) baseball while the Pirates visited the Atlanta Braves. It is signed across the sweet spot "Carinosamente (affectionately), Roberto Clemente". The autograph rates approximately 6-7/10 in strength. This is one of very few Clemente singles that is signed across the sweet spot of an Official National League baseball, most examples in circulation are signed on the side panel or on a unofficial ball. The provenance of how the autograph was obtained is neatly inscribed on the backside of the ball which translates to "Third day of the ballplayer, Latin American (Roberto Clemente), Atlanta July 8, 1972".
